William J. Windscheif
President

William J. Windscheif is the President and founder of AIS-Limited, a specialty consulting company focused on polymer based materials, processes, design and marketing services. AIS serves the global polymers and automotive markets. Prior to starting AIS, Windscheif was the manager of the Automotive Business Unit for Flint Hills Resources (FHR), a large multinational chemical and plastics producer. He was responsible for profit and loss and strategic commercial activities including sales/marketing and new product development for the automotive market. Before joining FHR (predecessor Huntsman LLC) in 2002, he was Global Business Vice President for Basell’s Advanced Polyolefins. He was responsible for key account management for the global automotive industry. Prior to the formation of Basell, he served as Automotive Innovation Leader for the North American automotive market and before that as Director of the North American Automotive Business Group and Leader of Montell’s Global Automotive Steering Team.
In his global role with Basell, Windscheif was responsible for sales, the development of new market segment opportunities, and tracking of future automotive trends related to Basell’s customers' needs. In addition to his current responsibilities, Windscheif is Chairman Emeritus of the American Plastics Council (Automotive Business Unit), is a past member of Oakland University Plastics Advisory Board and currently serves on the Kettering University Polymers Advisory Board. He also serves on Boards and Commissions for the City of Rochester Hills where he resides.
Prior to joining Montell in 1994, Windscheif held a variety of management positions in the chemical and automotive industries over a 25-year period. From 1988 to 1994, he was Director of Business Development for Vista Performance Polymers at Vista Chemical Co., Houston, TX, where he managed all new product introductions, research and development, product design, and marketing.
Windscheif was President and Chief Executive of Polymeric Processes, Inc., Tecumseh, MI, from 1985-1988. A custom thermoplastic injection molder, Polymeric Processes served the automotive and related industries producing polycarbonate and acrylic lenses.
From 1976-1985 he held sales and marketing management positions for the Gulf Oil Chemical Co.’s Plastics Division and Spiral Engineered Systems Division, in Detroit, MI, and Norcross, GA, respectively. At Gulf, Windscheif helped establish an automotive office for Gulf’s entry into the polypropylene markets. Prior to his tenure at Gulf, he held a variety of marketing and sales positions for General Electric Plastics in Southfield, MI. From 1970 to 1976, he was responsible for marketing GE Plastics resins during the plastics industry’s major thrust into the automotive market.
Before joining GE, Windscheif was a research and project engineer for General Motors Fisher Body Division in Warren, MI, from 1968-1970.
A graduate of General Motors Institute (Kettering University) in Flint, MI, he holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering. He holds patents for energy absorbing passenger restraint systems. He is a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers, the American Society of Body Engineers, and the Society of Plastics Engineers.
